Music
The 1970s are characterized by the birth and development of new musical movements such as punk, disco, personal pop, heavy metal, Latin rock, reggae, urban rock, techno pop, glam rock, and symphonic rock.
The most popular genres of the 70's
-Pop: The term 'pop' derives from 'popular', so it is linked to popular music. It is a rhythm that has been influenced by other musical styles such as blues, rock and roll and British folk. Pop music is very eclectic, often borrowing elements from other styles such as urban, dance, rock, Latin music, rhythm and blues, or folk. However, there are essential elements that define pop, such as short to medium length songs, written in a basic format.
-Heavy Metal:It is a musical genre that was born in the late sixties and early seventies in the United Kingdom and also in the United States, whose origins come from blues rock, hard rock and psychedelic rock. It is mainly characterized by its strong and distorted guitars, emphatic rhythms, the bass and drum sounds are denser than usual and the voice is generally high-pitched.
Most popular artists of the 70's
Queen: Queen is a British rock band formed in 1970 in London by singer and pianist Freddie Mercury, guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor. Bassist John Deacon would arrive a year later to the group to complete the classic formation. After Mercury's death in 1991, and Deacon's retirement in 1997, the remaining members, Brian May and Roger Taylor, continue to work under the name Queen or Queen +, so the band is still considered active.
Led Zepelin: was a British rock group founded in London in 1968 by guitarist Jimmy Page, who had belonged to The Yardbirds. The band consisted of Jimmy Page on guitar, John Paul Jones as bassist and keyboardist, vocalist Robert Plant, and John Bonham on drums (who had joined Plant in The Band of Joy). It is considered one of the most important and influential bands of the 70's and rock history. More than forty years after the band's breakup in 1980, Led Zeppelin's music continues to sell, enjoy wide airplay, and have proven to be one of the most influential bands in rock music.
